Whew, it has been a VERY busy month, our busiest yet!

Latest Updates and News!

Well folks I will admit we have not been as web-savvy and up-to-date as we would have like to have been, so we are going to make up for it with a huge post today.

First off to our followers be sure to add us on facebook: Asgard Entertainment to see our latest photos of jobs and if we did your party you may just see your smiling dancing self there!

The first picture you'll see is of one of the beautiful centerpieces our lovely event decorator Kate created. This was for a Luau-themed Sweet 16. The glass bowl is filled with sand, assorted shells, and mini-starfish along with a focal point candle. It was a beautiful compliment to the favors we gave out to each table consisting of tropical fish bubbles in a half-scallop shell and wrapped in cellophane and tied off with some twine adorned with real starfish, all sitting atop a flower lei.

Remember folks we can, and do, take care of it all. From balloon archways, to face-painting, to decorations and of course entertainment.

Here are the Sachem East Varsity Arrowettes in our hats over at the Holbrook Carnival last month! These hats were a one-time offer and won't be seen again, so congrats to everyone who got on and :P to everyone who missed out.

Our website now has a ton of new updates including a new promo video (see below), testimonials, and new gallery shots!

This has been the busiest last two months we've ever seen, which is great for us, but unfortunately it also keeps us from updating this blog that often. Hey Guys, don't think we forgot about you...ok so maybe a temporary lapse but still big news!

This weekend Aug 6-8th we will be at the Sayville Summerfest! We will have great specials for all shows booked that day! So come down! Friday 5am-10pm, Sat 10am-10pm, and Sunday 10am-10pm at Gilette Park in Sayville. There will also be a full carnival, rides, games, car show and live bands!

Next weekend we will be at the Holbrook Carnival, everything you loved from Summerfest now at the Trios at the Holbrook Country Club (our House hall!). From Thurs-Sunday. Thurs 5-10, Friday/Sat/Sun 10-10. Same rules apply lots of sales and specials!

A Simple Sunday Wedding.

It was a beautiful sunny day this past Sunday at the Brentwood Country Club where we were privileged to be a part of a great wedding party.

A nervous bride had us on speed-dial almost weekly with questions about everything from music planning, to centerpieces, to other vendors and even favors. We gladly guided her every step of the way starting with picking the first song she would share with her new husband to watching her enjoy the final dance of the day. The entire day was an elegant yet affordable affair.

We are thrilled to be a part of all aspects of our client's events and our event planners are readily available to help. Like this bride, don't be afraid to ask for help if you feel overcome when planning your wedding.

Although the temperature was reaching almost 90 in the sun during the outdoor ceremony, the dance floor was Hot Hot Hot! This fine crowd dancing the afternoon away to a great mix of todays hits and yesterdays classics made the day fly by. There is nothing quite like grandma outdancing the young ones to their own music! Our goal is to make your day special, for both you and your guests.

What started off as our bride having originally only a playlist and reception became a full gala with DJ, Photo, Video and Favors all organized to be within her budget.

Event Planner * Wedding Planner

Planning a Wedding? Sometimes it may seem like the whole process is driving you insane. To be honest... it probably is. People in the entertainment industry are used to this stress which includes last-minute fix-ups, touch-ups, and rescheduling. It's part of their, and our daily life so we are accustomed to the stresses of events and that if anything may go wrong how to quickly fix the situation without anyone but us knowing about it.

If you think you can handle everything that planning a wedding entails then you may not have to read anymore, but if you have a doubt then adventure on!

There are many aspects to consider when planning a wedding, or any event: Hall/Venue, Food, Beverages, Entertainment, Photo, Video, Transportation, Floral, Outfits (Tux/Dresses), and Lodging just to name a few. Some catering halls offer all-in-one packages that include most of the services you need for a flat rate. You may want to consider that if your hall/venue offers it as it is usually cheaper than shopping around for each of the services separately, but not always.

Weddings are planned years in advance and it may seem like its alot of time to take care of everything, but ask around and you'll find out how quickly everything catches up to you when you try to do it all yourself.

You may want to consider hiring an Event Planner/Wedding Planner these people are professionals who deal with all the aspects of the party and vendors so you don't have to. You hire one, and just sit back and relax and enjoy all the time before your event and then enjoy the event day. Their job is to organize everyone and everything and to make sure everything goes according to plan, and believe me, there will be a multi-page document of every minute of your event planned out. They are the who, what, where, when, why, and how guys. They make it happen, no if ands or buts.

Now you can try to organize a flower delivery, while sizing and picking out the bridesmaid's dresses on your way to select the chair covers for the reception after the string quartet you booked plays for your ceremony on your own without having your brain scrambled. Or hire an event planner to take care of all those details. At the very least you will have a very happy soon-to-be Husband who can point you to a single person to yell at as compared to him for once.

Now not all parties require or even need an event planner. However the more elaborate your event the more this may seem to be an option you might want to look into. Most Entertainment Companies (be it a band or DJ) will have an MC who works as (as the Acronym stands) a Master of Ceremonies. An on-the-spot ring leader that organizes the maitre'd, the other vendors, and obvious the music that day. It's their job to make sure your day is going well and that everyone is taken care of: the hall served the food and the timing for dinner/cake etc, the photographer/videographer have time to take the bridal party outside or wherever for their shoots, and the music is appropriate for the time-frame and crowd.

So before you look like this :

Consider an Event Planner for your Wedding.

On a related note-For Larger Parties (non-wedding) an event coordinator is advised, by large parties we are talking Super-Parties. Multiple Vendor-Simultaneous events at the same premises parties. A huge birthday party with 200+ guests (mostly children) that has face-painting, sand art, music, games, AND MORE all during the same time frame it would be advisable to have someone other than yourself to organize the vendors, and guests at the venue. If you do plan on having an event like that you most likely would be using an Event Planning company anyway and they would provide with someone, so you may not need to worry.

Not all situations require an event planner, and most do not, but we just want you to be aware that you are not alone when planning your event and there are multiple companies and businesses who's sole job is to do the dirty work for you.

Live Musicians: Part 1

Live Musicians: Percussionists

A great addition to a party is live musician, for this blog we'll be focusing on Percussionist.

Some people have no idea what a Percussionist can do. They think the performer is just a drummer on a sit-down drum kit banging away. Well until you see a mobile Percussionist perform at an event you have no idea the life they can bring into a party.

Now there are your standard drums, snares, cymbals, but you've also got bongos, rhythm sticks, and yes....cowbells. No your party doesn't need more cowbell, and believe me they've heard that line a thousand times before and it will instantly annoy your musician and no one wants that. =)

Each percussionist is a performer and has a style all their own. Some love playing bongos and adding a latin flare, others a more laid back freestyle jazz type, and some wear bizarre costumes to enhance their performance. In any case they are usually positioned right in front of the DJ to be able to hear the music from the speakers and play along with the rhythm. As such they bring what may sound like dull music into a living entity. It also makes it sound like you have a live band playing (for a much cheaper cost).

If you do have a percussionist remember, they are trained musicians and are more than happy to accomodate you if you feel they are playing too loud. However do not forget these people are professionals and treat their instuments like part of themselves so please don't go over and take it upon yourself to play without their permission. Its always a fun time when the bride and groom are playing the drums along to a song.

So remember, keep in mind what a Percussionist can bring to your party, (some even play the steel drum) as an option for your party. And please....no more cowbell.

Sweet 16 Packages

Our latest show was a Sweet 16 at the Coral House in Baldwin, and boy did the party rock! Dancing all night, even Mom was getting into it asking for "Shots" as a special request for her to dance to!

We do our best to make everyone happy, by playing a little bit of everything so no matter the guest, they can go home and say "well the DJ did play at least ____ that I liked". It could be grandma wanting a little Sinatra, or maybe someone's niece looking for a little Miley Cyrus.

Our job is to make sure you, and your guests walk out of the party pleased with the music. The positioning of certain songs that may not be your favorite or fit into the theme but will please the guests can be done in a variety of ways. The most common being during cocktail, dinner, or dessert, during this "down time" guests are sitting and eating or socializing. This is when that Sinatra song that grandma loves can be played without taking away from the Jersey Shore Club-theme of your party, you won't even noticing it being played, but for that guest listening they will.

DJ/MC (ONE MAN): $550

This package includes a single performer as both DJ and MC, this includes a 50 person favor package and basic light show.

DJ AND MC (TWO MAN): $795

This package includes both a DJ and MC/Party Motivator, the ideal combination for larger parties and those including many kids. This package also includes a 100 person favor package and basic light show.

DELUXE SWEET 16 PACKAGE: $1,095

This package includes a DJ, MC, and Dancer/Motivator, This package includes a Large Light Show. It also includes a 150 person favor package, as well as Zap Photography of the entire event which will be mailed to you the following business day on a CD.

All of the pictures you are seeing here are done by our Zap Photographer. A great addition to your Sweet 16 Package, at the end of the night the Sweet 16 girl can go home with her photo-CDs and immediately put all her pictures up online!
